DIGITAL CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
UX/UI
(OVERVIEW)
This bachelor project was developed in collaboration with Søstrene Grene and carried out as a group project consisting of three students.
DIGITAL CONCEPT
(THE GOAL)
The project explores how UX/UI design and digital concept development can be used to strengthen Søstrene Grene’s digital experience and create stronger coherence between physical and digital touchpoints. Through user research, analysis and iterative prototyping, the project focuses on developing a concept that supports customer loyalty, enhances the in-store experience digitally and translates the brand’s sensory and aesthetic universe into a meaningful app experience.

DESIGN THINKING
(EMPHASIZE)
In our bachelor’s thesis for Søstrene Grene, we focused on building a deep understanding of both users and brand context. We worked with qualitative research methods such as interviews, focus groups and internal company insights to uncover user needs, motivations and expectations. In parallel, we analysed Søstrene Grene’s existing digital touchpoints to identify gaps between the calm, sensory in-store experience and the current app experience.
(DEFINE)
Based on our research, we defined a clear UX challenge: the existing app did not offer sufficient value beyond the webshop and failed to translate the brand’s physical experience into a meaningful digital context. We synthesised insights using CX models, customer journeys and behavioural frameworks, allowing us to clearly articulate where the user experience broke down and where digital interventions could create value.
(IDEATE)
In the ideation phase, we explored how a digital solution could strengthen Søstrene Grene’s omnichannel experience rather than simply replicate e-commerce functionality. We developed and evaluated concepts centred on personalization, gamification and in-store support. Through sketches, user flows and early wireframes, we ensured that ideas aligned with both user needs and the brand’s distinctive universe.
(PROTOTYPE)
We designed an interactive app prototype with a strong emphasis on UX/UI design, interaction patterns and brand coherence. The prototype focuses on onboarding, personalized content and a gamified shopping list that connects the digital experience with physical store visits. Particular attention was given to visual hierarchy, microcopy and interaction feedback to reflect Søstrene Grene’s calm, sensory and inspiring tone of voice.

(TEST)
We conducted usability testing with users from the target group to evaluate navigation, comprehension, emotional response and perceived value. The insights gained were used to iteratively refine user flows, onboarding elements and gamification mechanics. This ensured that the final concept balanced intuitive usability with long-term engagement and loyalty.
